My Body, Myself

by Lonnie Gribnau on July 17, 2011

Wow here I am in the summer of 2011 with another physical hurdle almost behind me (I hope).  In March I had both knees replaced after injuring one on the way to an agility lesson!  It has been four months now and my JOB for the past 4 months and for the next 6 months has been to exercise those babies.

Friends say I am doing well but I am fighting the anger and frustration of wanting to heal FAST.  Can anyone out there relate?

Do you ever want to separate your body from yourself?  Well believe me  it doesn’t work, it’s always there.

I truly believe that without my love of hiking and dog agility I wouldn’t be willing to work so hard.  What makes you want to work hard to become more physically active?

Here are some coaching tips that have worked for me:

∙rest for the frustration

∙rest for the pain

∙work those thoughts that keep me stuck

∙feed my spirit with people who give me energy

∙scan my body and keep in touch rather than running away from it…..it doesn’t work but I like to try :)

∙talk to a friend with a sense of humor

∙enlist the help of a coach……luckily I have one that is also a friend!

I like your writing style genuinely enjoying this internet site. “In Washington, it’s dog eat dog. In academia, it’s exactly the opposite.” by Robert Reich.
